The holiday season is approaching and much planning is taking place at the M.O.R.E. Center. We will be giving out Thanksgiving and Christmas boxes again this year. The boxes consist of: a 12-14 pound turkey, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, two vegetables, canned peaches, gravy mix, dessert mix and coffee. In addition to this, we add dairy products (milk, eggs, cheese), bread, pastry and more. The boxes cost us $16 each with the Northern Illinois Food Bank helping with the balance. If you would like to help by sponsoring a Holiday Meal Box, please send a check or cash to: M.O.R.E. Center, 829 Greenlee Street, Marengo, IL 60152. Be sure to designate “holiday box.”

The community Angel Tree program will take place around town. This program provides clothing for children, newborn through 8th grade. MORE will distribute the gifts. The retired Marine Corps will be handling the Toys for Tots program and MORE will distribute these toys. Look for boxes in local businesses. Toys for Tots and Angel Tree gifts will be distributed on Sunday, December 16 at noon. Food boxes will be distributed on Wednesday, November 21 and Thursday, December 20.

If you know someone in need this holiday season, encourage them to sign up during regular open hours (Wednesdays 9-12 and Thursdays 4-6). MORE Center-829 Greenlee Street, Marengo, 815-568-7950, www.marengomorecenter.org
