I want to take time out in this busy holiday season to let you know that Christmas food boxes are still available for purchase. The boxes consist of: a 12-14 pound turkey, stuffing mix, instant potatoes, two vegetables, canned peaches, gravy mix, dessert mix and coffee. In addition to this, we add dairy products (milk, eggs, cheese), bread, pastry and more. The boxes cost us $16 each, with the Northern Illinois Food Bank helping with the balance. If you would like to help by sponsoring a Holiday Meal Box, please send a check or cash to: M.O.R.E. Center, 829 Greenlee Street, Marengo, IL 60152. Be sure to designate “holiday box”.

We want to thank the many individuals, organizations and churches that have contributed to us this season. The holidays seem to bring out the giving spirit and the receipts at this time set the tone for next year’s budget. You can give in many ways to MORE. Donations of food, coats, gloves, clean winter clothing, cash and your time are the most common forms. Another way to donate would be to look to the future in a will, life insurance, property, etc. Most of us don’t think of that, but perhaps as the year is drawing to an end and we begin to think of taxes , that may fit your situation.

And one more thing. We receive Salvation Army money to help with our financial assistance program. So, putting money in the red kettle does find its way back to us. Merry Christmas!
